Home Blogger Party

These are a few things I like about my house. I am sharing these as part of the the Romantic House Party Blog at Karla's Cottage. Check out her site for more links

This is a shelf that Preston made me. I have wedding photos of relatives as well as ours on it, along with some old windows.

This is my hutch that I love, it was a wedding present and I love displaying photos and my milkglass collection on it.

These are wall words over the red stripe Preston painted on the top of the walls in the living room.

...and this is my hall tree decorated for Fall. I love to do it up and then see it first thing when I walk into the house. Thanks for looking. I'd love to see your favorites about your house too.

Front Space

both Henry and his friend Mac have some front space in their mouths. I had to snap a picture just as the little teeth fall out and before the new larger teeth arrive. I think these top front ones change their looks so much when they come in.

Happy Birthday Mom

We had a great time over the weekend celebrating my mom's birthday. It was a busy weekend, with the rain the the games and all, but we got together for pizza and salad on Saturday. My mom was born in Minnasota and was named Gretchen, but was later renamed Joann. Happy Birthday mom, you are the best mom and grandma, so giving and loving and creative. You mean a lot to us. We love you!

Karla at karlascottage blog is having a blogger party on Tuesday the 25th. It is all about what you like about your home, romantic or otherwise. I am going to post some pictures here on Tuesday of things I enjoy about my house. Check out her blog also on Tuesday to see links to bloggers around the world sharing their favorite things about their homes. I'd love to see your favorite things too.

chunky monkeys

My chunky funky monkey board book pages are done, so I need to buy some bubble envies and get them in the mail. I am done with board books right now. I have been producing so much lately, I am going to look into getting an ETSY store set up. I am going to look into that today. I'll let you know when it opens.

Fall Fun

I am enjoying the change in the weather. It is suppost to rain here and it is so crisp and cool. I love it. Can't wait to get those pumpkins out this weekend and I even got some apple cider at Trader Joe's yesterday. Can't wait to warm it up and cozy up in a blanket. Yeah for Fall.

Thursday, September 20, 2007

I have a basket of board books/paperbag books. I am just finishing up the zetti chunky board book pages to mail out, and I am thinking about joining another board book swap, themed funky monkeys. I need some monkey inspiration though, haven't drawn or painted any monkeys lately. I love board books
Another pic of my tree, I keep adding stuff. I haven't gotten my fall decor out yet, maybe this weekend.

Seeing Pink

Scrap Pink is coming up, there is going to be a special event at the Red Bee in October. The design team members are all going to do two layouts for an albums that will be raffled or auctioned off, to help raise money for cancer research. These are the two pages that I did. I am so excited that I think I might do a few more. This was fun, only using PINK, which I don't do very often.

These are my next endevor. They are called inchies. They are 1 inch pieces of art. Apparently you make a bunch and then you swap and put them all together. Looks like fun. I even want to try it with my students.

funky pumpkins

The Funky Pumpkins ATC swap was due Saturday, so I got down on the carpet in the livingroom and spread all the FPatcs out and swapped them, put them in SASEs to go back in the mail tomorrow. This is just a picture of 2 of the cards that I got to keep for being hostest of the swap. They are on my tree. Time to get the rest of the pumpkins out for Fall.

Inside of the crown

These are pics of the inside and the back of the Mermaid Queen crown that I made. I wasn't sure how to tie it together in the back and a few people suggested eyelets and ribbon, so used them and it worked great.

cootie catcher

I made this cootie catcher, with a doggy theme. I used to love to make these things in school and then we would make up quotes to go into every opening. When I was in jr. high I used to love making signs and words with bubble letters and then add patterns in each letter. Still doing the same thing 30 years later.

Happy Birthday Emma

We celebrated Emma's 11th birthday last night. She got an Ipod shuffle, a pitching machine and some beautiful party dresses and Halloween outfits for her dolls, Lanka and Annabeth. The pictures show the dresses that grandma MADE. Emma has the best grandparents who spoil her rotten.

Crown, Tiara, and Hat Swap

This is a Mermaid Queen crown made for pumpkincoach for the Crown Swap on atcards.com. I was so inspired and excited that I couldn't wait to make it. Best of all, I didn't buy anything. Everything that went into this crown I found in my stash. Does that say something about my stash? I just kept adding until it was filled up.

Soccer

This is my little soccer player. He is a very good goalie and likes playing in the field too. His team is 1-1. They are the Strikers. I made the banner. I'll have to take a picture of it.

pennent banner

I made a cute little pennent banner for a celebration. It says celebrate on it. It is just cardboard covered with ribbon and material with glitter letters on top and gems. Can't wait to have a party and use it for decoration. The second picture is a close up of a few of the letters.

Softball Weekend

If you are tired of looking at softball pictures, turn your head, if not, (and I'm not) look here. This is what we did this weekend. Crush (Emma's team took 2nd place) by a nose, (final game 0-1) at the Fall Brawl in Mission Viejo. She is the one on the far left. Mid-point through the day on Sunday the girls made a massage train and rubbed one another's shoulders. How could I not get a picture (or 10) of that.

chunky book

These are a few pages I created for a zetti chunky book page swap at atcards.com. They are 4x4", a great size to work in. I can't wait to swap out and get 15 different pages back from other peeps. Happy Monday.

First Day

School is here. Every year I always take a picture of the kids on the first day of school. I almost forgot this year, but managed to snap one while we were waiting outside the classrooms. Both kids came home very excited about school this year. Emma mentioned merit parties and silly sandwiches and dressing out for p.e. Henry was excited about co-op dollars, on-merit parties, tickets and cursive. It's going to be a great year. I can tell.

misc.

Sunday was a special day for me. I turned 17! Seventeen years of sobriety that is. Wow, it has really gone by fast. I went to a meeting last night to get a chip and some of the ladies there gave me presents, so here are some pictures:

Thanks Heidi for the beautiful flowers, I love gerbers the best and these are so brilliant, so inspiring. Love them.

Thanks to Charlotte for the beautiful angel. Isn't she devine. I'll have to find a special place for her. She says: Let His angels guide the way. Love it.

This is a zetti chucky board book swap I am working on, not finished yet. I am being inspired by Teesha Moore.

And, lastly, this is a door that has been seran wrapped and stuffed with balloons. I won't tell you who did it or where it is, but some people had some fun last night. Remember school starts tomorrow!

Beating the Heat

We are still trying to beat the heat around here, it is so hot. We went to the Angel's game last night and it was hot, but we found some seats in the shade. And the other pic is from Emma's practice today, they got the hose out. Still hot though. What are you doing to beat the heat.
