Art Camp- day four

Well the week is just about over and we have been busy beavers in my art camp this week.  I have really enjoyed this week and am looking forward to the art show tomorrow.

Artcamp 2014

Will have to post more pics of art camp this week, but have to remember to take more, we just get so busy in the creative process.  Here's a few...

Super easy name art using the craft sticks from the dollar store.  Get size large and colored ones if u can.  I used gardening clippers to cut the sticks to make the letters, then hotgluded them together, then acrylic paint to decorate.  Yarn could also be used to create color by wrapping around.

Auction Art

Most years my school does an auction at the end of the year for find raising, and I try and help out by doing class group art projects.  Here are a few so far for this year's auction.

This is 2nd grade, they each designed a peacock feather and helped desin and color the peacock.

This is 4th grade, we brained stormed about ice cream flavors and then collaged.

This is kindergarten, they each painted stripes to go on the zebra.

This is 4th grade, they each designed a boat and sails.

One of my favorites, these are third grade.  The color doesn't do it justice.

 

More Egyptian Sarcophagi

..These are 3 of my sixth graders who stayed a little bit longer in class on Wednesday to get their sarcophagus finished.  I am real pleased with the end result, they came out great, and the kids learned so much.

Egyptian Art

So I posted a while ago we were starting an Egyptian art unit and a couple of classes have finished, so here is the process in pictures.  These are 4th and 5th graders mostly, but I did this project with 1st-6th grade.   I am loving the end result and the kids loved learning about Queen Nefertiti and her nephew Tut.  They brought in the brown paper bags that we used for the sarcophaguses, researched Egyptian art and even took a virtual tour of King Tut's tomb.  We talked about the flail and crook that he holds in his hands and what they symbolize.  And they looked at hieroglyphics and wrote their names in pictures on their mummy.   

Art Festival

This year I displayed the school's art by class as to include every student.  I pre prepped a lot of displays ahead of time by mounting the art on large bulletin board paper from the rolls.  This made it easy to hang 25 pieces at once.  It also allowed for quick take down. 

Giverny, France

Kindergarteners studied Claude Monet and his Impressionism paintings.  I talked about visiting his garden, which would be amazing.  I read the book 'The Magical Garden of Claude Monet'. They drew out lillypads on black paper and colored them in with green chalk.  They colored the backgrounds with loose brush strokes in blue and white chalk.  Next they made a tissue paper flower in pastel colors, and attached it with half a pipe cleaner through a hole, taped down in the back.  Fun project, kids loved blending the chalk and getting messy.
