I Heart Art

I erased the Christmas greeting on my chalk board easel and just wanted something simple and easy that expresses something important.  This is what I came up with.  And I love that little side table.  Two of my students gave it to me years ago.  The draw handle is the duck's beak.

Valentine Lichtenstein

I wanted to teach my students a lil pop art but also incorporate Valentines Day as well.  So this is what we came up with.  On a 4X9" piece of paper we wrote out the word love in block letters.  We divided the paper into 4 equal parts and drew out the letters, traced them with black sharpie and then colored them in with patterns in the primary colors.

Next we cut out the letters, it doesn't matter if they come apart or not.
Then I gave them a handout that I copies an explosion, they added the benday dots around the edge with red or blue marker dots. and then cut that out.
Lastly we attached everything onto a primary colored paper with glue and added explosion  lines.

Collaborative Auction Art

Art Auction

I'm so excited for this one, I really like the way it came out.  My 5th graders each collaged a ray from magazine cut outs, and we mod podged it onto a collaged back ground .  Maybe will add different text.

Petals and Pop Shop

Spent the afternoon in Seal Beach, found a cute little florist on Main Street.  I loved the fresh cuttings smell of the shop and the rusticness of it.  I always wanted to be a florist.  I could live there, Petals and Pop Shop.

Oh Deer

Up in idylwild Ca, there were some painted deer sculptures.  I really love deer, and especially antlers.

Dali

Second graders studied surrealism and Salvador Dali, we cut out mustaches and talked about symmetry, we taped them on their upper lip as we drew Salvador and then have him his mustache.
