This is...

what I have been working one. These are pennents for Emma's softball team. I still need a white opaque marker to finish the black ones.

This is my tree all decorated with pumpkin atcs from a swap that I am hosting. Can you tell I am ready for fall. It gets better.

These are some Halloween wands that I made for the Sweet and Sinister Swap. We are swapping sweet/sinister things that are black and white, organized by Artsy Mama.

This is a pumpkin I found at the Goodwill, and I embellished it a bit, also for the S&S swap. Thanks for looking. What are you working on?????

Fall Start

I made this cute board book for a display at the Red Bee. I used coasters from eating out a few weeks ago. I love fall and I am looking forward to decorating my tree with pumpkin ATCs. I will definately take a picture of it when it is done. I went back to work today, it was nice to see everyone. Tomorrow I get to learn a new computer program with grading and lesson plans. Then this weekend is the start of the softball games. Looking forward to it. School starts in 7 days!

few fav layouts

Here are just a few of my favorite layouts I did on the cruise this weekend. The suitcase that I brought for scrapbooking was bigger than the one with my clothes in it. Glad to be back and getting back into the routine of things. Back to work tomorrow. Looking forward to being creative with my students.

Life's a Beach

Guess when there are no new art projects to post and all there is is pictures from the beach to post, I have been away from the creativity scene a bit. We spent a few nights at the beach and had a great time hanging out in the sand. I got some good shots of the kids and of the dogs, lots of dogs. Glad to be back and out of the sand and dirt and sleeping in my own bed tonight.

away from art

I have been away from art for a few days and I am feeling a need to be really creative. I hope to have a chance to get to some artthings this weekend. I got a new book in the mail called "the creative license" by Danny Gregory, Its about feeding your creative need and how we all have it. Looking forward to it.

Fishermen

This week I became a better fisherman, and so did the kids. We got a lot of practice taking the hook out of the fish's mouth. We had great weather, no storms and although I got bit a few times, the mosquito population was much lower than last year. We did a lot of exploring too and found some new places to camp, though Preston is set on Aspen Group Camp next year.

New Technique

On the artful blogger party day, I found a new technique for altering photos that I had to try. I found it here. I used acrylic paint, pastels and stamps to alter this photo and then scrapped it. Have you tried any new techniques from the artful blogger party?

atc tutorial for the Artful Blogger Party

I am so excited to participate in the artful blogger party put on by artsymama. This is a tutorial on how to create a mixed media collaged artist trading card. There are three parts to the tutorial and when you get to the end if you leave a comment you'll have a chance to win the atc, plus some painted text collage papers to make your own.

To start, you need: some pieces of collage paper. I used a bunch of book pages that I painted with watercolor a few days ago.

Also, you will need some colored pencils, markers, sharpie, glue and stamps

First thing you do is draw an image on one of the papers. I drew a girl starting with her round face, neck, shoulders, hair and features.

Next, color the image with markers and/or colored pencils

See parts 2 and 3 for the rest of this project and don't forget to leave a comment for the drawing.

Tutorial Part 2

Next, cut out your image.

Ink the edges of the papers and your image with a black ink pad, rip any pieces that are too big

Collage your background pieces together.

Get some stamps out to stamp the background.

Third Part of Tutorial

This is the third part of the atc tutorial:
Next add stamps to the background I used red and black ink and overlapped the images filling up the space.

Next glue together your image and the background, I also added a heart to her shirt with one of the text pieces I had left over.

And that's it, you are done with the front!

One the back, put your atc info: title, date, artist, etc.

Thanks for being artful with me. If you are interested in winning this atc plus some painted text papers to make your own atc, leave a comment and I'll draw a name and post the winner on 8/9.
