I am teaching about the Pacific Islands Tapa Cloth that originated by the indigenous peoples from the islands of Tonga and Samoa. They actually made the cloth from the bark of trees. Today, you can find Hawaiian shirt patterns that were inspired by this ancient artform.
This is the new girls basketball sweatshirt design, designed by Cheri Sains. I love the flames. I think I'll order one for myself, though I don't play basketball.

I am told that this dog and her girl have a new blog. I'd like to see it. Megan, if you stop by, leave me a comment and a link to your blog so I can check it out. Also, if you need more pics of Abby I have them too. Isn't she cute, she's a labradoodle.

new book

So I got this new book in the mail called Adrienne Looman's Doodle Formula, the step-by-step guide to creating the perfect doodle. I love to doodle, so this was right up my ally. I am having lots of fun. I've made a self portrait postcard that I think I'll keep and not trade, and I am hoping to add some of my doodles in my scrapbook pages this weekend. Thanks Adrienne.

In Between 2 of 5

This is my excuse for not getting any art done over the weekend. The softball season has begun and Emma played 5 games over the weekend, in which I watched all of them. I am hoping to get my postcard challenges done later today. What did you do over the weekend besides art?

Creative Angels

oooh, I just had a few minutes to finish these up today. They are for a painted page atc swap. The idea is to take a page from an old book and paint on it. I like the idea of a creativity angel. I must have one near by, because it is so much a need for me to be creative. Not much time though, back to work and school and soccer and softball. Some of my favorite s words besides scrappin. oooh, sleep is another good one. Goodnight.

No artwork to upload today, I was busy with the kids at "meet the teacher." Tomorrow is the big day, first day of school. I imagine it will be quite busy, so I took as many photos as I could today.

Happy Labor Day Weekend

Just some pics from the weekend. We brought home a new pet from the Orange International Street Fair, a $3 feeder fish. The kids got their hair spray painted and we celebrated at the Wonder's block party with swimming and baseball and posing by the Christmas Tree in the middle of the street in August. Maybe that will be our Christmas card picture this year. Thinking about it.

scrappin

Just some scrap pages I did at the Red Bee on Friday night. It was great to get out and get some pages done. Hope to do it again soon.
