inspiration
Sometimes I struggle with being creative and I just can't get the inspiration going. That was the case the last couple of days, so this morning I cleaned out my scrapbasket and found lots of wonderful scraps that I didn't know I had cuz the not so great ones were on top stifling my creative process. After I realized I had a bunch of great collage papers to work with the creative process came easy. I think I am going to organized more often.
school
It's transition time. The anticipation mounts as the new school year is upon us. The kids just have a few more days of summer. I went back to work yesterday. I love getting the new classroom supplies and prepping the classroom for the new year, but the loss of summer freedom is hard to face. Soon summer will be a happy memory and books, learning, and recess will be all we know.

Mailart Friends
I couldn't resist this. We have been making collage postcards on MailArtWorld, so I took a few avatar pics of some of the characters over there and collaged us together. Meet from left to right CParm, RocNic, WonderWanda, Me and Pumpkin with a monkey on his back.

I was so frustrated with Barnes and Noble the other night cuz they wouldn't take back a book that I wanted to return without a receipt, so I ended up at the Red Bee and found this cute little pumpkin head. I hot glued him onto a gathered ribbon and then onto a tin with a candle. I added some halloween paper around the tin and made him a hat and voila, I feel better.

Sunday Postcard Challenge
Here is my postcard for the Sunday Postcard Challenge. I know it's a little out there, but the theme was mystic and I had a tough time with it. I used to live on Mystic St. so my mind automatically went there, but I couldn't find a street sign. So I thought of a mystical person. What do you think pictoralizes mystic?

Summer Still
Oh it's late and it's been a really busy day. It's still summer, but it's coming to an end. It seems like we are trying to cram a lot in before the big transition into work and school. We need the week days just to recoup from the busy weekend. And how do we do it during the school year. I don't know. Are you ready for September or are you holding on to August for as long as you can?

atcs
Have you seen these. I made them when I was on vacation and didn't find them till the other day. I had put them in my pencil box that I took on our trip. They are atcs on water color paper. I used marker, gel pens, colored pencil and thin black sharpie. I love the layer look of collage, and you can also achieve that look with markers and colored pencil if you overlap designs and pens. Thanks for looking. What are you working on?

Sunday Post Card Challenge
Here is my Sunday Postcard Challenge postcard. The theme was children which is an easy one. Saw this cute idea of making a house on another scrap page and had to try it. Got the vintage girl image on the internet. Added fine tip sharpie for details. Thanks for looking.

Some of my favorite moms & kids at the Mom and Me Class I taught at the Red Bee today. We had lots of fun and these cute little board books came out so cute. Good job girls.
Mambo Party
Got a collage sheet this morning for a postcard challenge on Mail Art World and this is what I came up with. We had to use as many of the elements as we could. I added my own cupcake though.

I recently posted this at my ETSY shop. I think I'll make a couple for my kid's teachers for the first day of school and fill them up with pens, pencils, post-its, etc. Another cute idea is an altered clipboard with the teacher's name on it.

postcard & circus
One more postcard to add to the collection. I missed the postcard challenge this week, but still made one. And, pics from the circus.
Doesn't that tiger look like he wanted to eat me? That is what I was thinking when he looked right at me through the camera lens, and the elephants look cute right? Well that picture was taken right before they all had a big poop fest. I guess if they eat together then they also cr*p together too. It was like a chain reaction. I won't say anymore. Happpy art day. Now, go make art.

Back from a very fun weekend in San Diego. Emma filled in to play on Crush Travel Ball at a Triple Crown Tournament. They took 2nd place. Here is a picture of the score book of just their first inning of their first game. 19 runs.
Also I went to a really cute scrapstore called Paper Tales in San Diego and they have a blog too. I took a cute picture of this house on display there, very cute. Also, I drew a name for the lunchpail RAK.... and the winner is Coral Rose Creations. Please email your snailmail address and I'll get that out to you. If you didn't win, but have to have one of those lunch pails I'll put another in my Etsy Shop. Check it out. Back later with more pics. I have two postcards to upload.

Time for a give away in honor of opening my etsy shop. Leave a comment here and I'll draw a name on Sunday. I altered this cute little lunch pail. I'll even fill it up with some goodies. Getting ready for school to start. We went shopping for school supplies yesterday. OMG! a hundred dollars later! And that was just pencil and paper,(and erasers, pens, rulers, etc.) But still. Just a few more weeks of summer vacation.

Sunday Post Card Challenge
Back with another Sunday Postcard Challenge. If you want to play along, click here. The theme this week is "Ride Yer Bike" which I love to do. The kids and I ride around Orange all the time. We visit the high school and Chapman College and the Orange Circle and the river bed. Here I used a printout of a vintage pic of a girl on her bike, cropped to fit the postcard size of course. Thanks for looking. Let's see your bike postcard....

Back from Wisconsin
I've been away from the computer for about 10 days, not able to upload much creativity. I did take some photographs of the kids on Lake 26 though. We had a lovely time. The kids caught fish and frogs(Emma was in heaven), and Henry was too, and well Preston was too. It was so relaxing. Thank you Peggy and Uncle Fred and Aunt Shirley. I did manage a few atcs while we were gone so I'll be sharing those tomorrow. Happy August 1st. Glad to be home. Thanks for looking.
